Lake Nakuru National Park, in Kenya’s Rift Valley, was established to protect its black and white rhino population and remains one of the most reliable places in East Africa to see both species on the same game drive. The park’s soda lake also attracts flamingos in varying numbers depending on water levels, along with buffalo, giraffe and healthy predator populations.
Lake Nakuru sits roughly midway between Nairobi and the Maasai Mara, which makes it a convenient stop on a longer road safari rather than a standalone destination. Eastern Voyage Safaris typically includes Lake Nakuru as part of multi-park itineraries alongside the Maasai Mara, Lake Naivasha and Amboseli.
